The Dental Implant Process With Our Specialized Team

Our Personalized Approach

Dental implants are the tooth replacement many patients trust for restoring their smiles after tooth loss. To learn if implants are the ideal choice for you, our doctors schedule personalized consultations to evaluate your periodontal health needs and discuss your unique smile goals. During this visit, we perform a clinical evaluation of your mouth and capture 3D CBCT images of your jawbone and other oral structures. We use this highly accurate data to strategically plan for the placement of your implants. This diagnostic procedure also reveals whether you have adequate bone in the jaw to support implants, and if bone grafting is needed to prepare your mouth for implant success. After completing your exam, we then present all viable treatment options and answer any questions you have regarding what to expect with dental implants.

Dental Implant Placement

As Diplomates of the American Board of Periodontology, Drs. Gouldin, Carlos and Gohel are committed to providing the highest standard of care in periodontics and implant dentistry today. On the day of your implant surgery, we take special care to ensure your comfort every step of the way. IV sedation or other sedation options are administered if preferred to allow for pain-free, positive procedures. Our doctors then use the 3D images from your cone beam CT scans and X-Nav dental implant technology to digitally plan implant guides. This guided implant surgery technique increases success rates, accuracy and precision of care for reliable treatment that lasts. Depending on your needs, we may incorporate Growth Factors into implant sites. These biocompatible materials promote new bone and gum tissue growth and expedite healing. In some cases, we may place a healing abutment immediately following implant surgery to maintain the implant site during the recovery phase. Sutures are then placed (if necessary) and post-op instructions are given.

Healing And Implant Restorations

Some implants can be loaded (restored with a crown, bridge or denture) immediately, while traditional implants must first heal before being restored. On average, it takes three to six months for implants to fully heal, or integrate with the jawbone. Drs. Gouldin, Carlos and Gohel will provide special instructions on how to care for your implant sites during the healing phase. Once we confirm your implants are ready, your restoring dentist then securely attaches your new implant crown, bridge or denture, completing your smile.
